How on earth did the guy who wrote the worst episode of season 1 write this pristine emotional torture?!
You guys.
I might have been able to handle just Sherlock faking his death.
BUT LETTING EVERYONE BELIEVE HE WAS A FRAUD TO PROTECT THEM
I mean, this is totally the canon Sherlock Holmes I know and love, but it still killed me.
And of course John doesn't believe it, but

Martin Freeman for all of the awards ever. "Just stop this." OH CHRIST MY HEART.
Also, I saw someone complaining about how they somehow 'degraded' Sherlock by asking Molly for help and that they hoped he was just playing her. And to that person I would like to say, fuck you, Molly Hooper is amazing. I have no idea what she did but I'm sure she helped Sherlock pull it off. The scene where she just very calmly asks him what he needs... guh.
I just. Ack. I assume that now Sherlock is off to clear his name and make sure John/Mrs. Hudson/Lestrade et al will be safe? But I can't see John taking this lying down. He doesn't believe Sherlock is a fraud, but he must know that Moriarty had something to do with the false admission? ashgjs I don't even I just want to SKIP TO THE REUNION.
tl;dr this episode was made up of all the tropes that hurt me inside.
