Good evening, flist! How are you tonight? I am laying around after a delicious Ma Po Tofu dinner and watching Hawaii Five-0 in order to ogle Daniel Dae Kim. Mmmmm, Jin.
OH HI THERE MASI OKA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE. ♥
Anyway! We are heading into one of my favorite times of year - the holiday season! The weekend after next should be fun, what with the Halloween potluck at work on the 29th, Jon Stewart's rally on the 30th, and I plan to have a quiet Halloween with a couple movies and perhaps a teeny pumpkin. It's not going to be as much fun without Sarah and Miranda, but I'll make do.
But then after that! Much more fun things begin. I'm talking, of course, about NaNo and Yuletide.
As per usual, I will be using NaNo as an excuse to step up my productivity, since I'm already working on a book. I did a full outline of Hungry Ground while stuck on lunch receptionist duty yesterday, and it looks like it's going to be 17 or 18 chapters, and I want to see if I can't get two or three done in November.
(I also usually use this time to work on holiday drabble requests, but between the book, Yuletide, and the new job, I definitely won't get those done this year. I will, however, be able to do holiday cards more efficiently, since I spend a lot of time at work sitting on my butt waiting for my diplomats to need something.)
And then, of course, there is Yuletide. I am currently trying to narrow down my requests. I am caught between Natsume Yuujinchou, Mushishi, Thief of Eddis, How to Train Your Dragon, Prince of Persia 2008, and Justified. I NEED TO GET RID OF TWO OF THEM, BUT IT'S SO HARD. I have to figure out which one someone else is likely to request.
... actually, I can probably strike PoP, because everyone who requests it is going to ask for Prince/Elika and that is indeed what I want. Same with How to Train Your Dragon and adorable Hiccup and Toothless shenanigans. On the other hand, my requests for the other four are probably things only I'd ask for (ah, the joys of genfic!) so they'd be smarter choices. But I am still conflicted! I don't know.
I will definitely offer to write all six of those, along with various other things. I am still waffling on whether to offer my favorite sitcoms like Modern Family and Community, along with Slings and Arrows. The latter especially gives me pause, because as much as I love it, I'm not sure I can be that clever! So I am also conflicted about that.
In any case, I think requests will start soon, and it should be fun!
And now we return to your regularly scheduled Daniel Dae Kim. Have a good night! ♥
