“Is something wrong?” D blinked. “I can’t be in violation of some law I’m not aware of…?”
He swallowed, tried to think of a way to sugarcoat it, and promptly thought better of it. “Shit, man. Be honest with me. Did you steal these from someone’s dying wealthy grandmother?”
“Where on earth do you think of such things?” D laid a hand across his chest dramatically. “What if she had given it to me as a gift?”
